Guy Bartlett - The Aeroplane Man
The History of
The Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA)
Often described as the “Female Few” this talk explores the role of female ATA pilots.
The ATA recruited pilots who were unsuitable for the RAF by reason of age,
fitness or gender.
Around a quarter of ATA pilots were women.
Once female ATA pilots became common knowledge there was public outcry.
However, without them, WW2 may have had a different outcome.
This talk explores the role of the vital, and often forgetten, story of the ATA.
A new talk for Summer 2025.
